Weekender Tote

We are about to embark on a few fun adventures thoughout the month of July.

What does every well organized, crafty mommy need?

A fabulously cute Weekender Tote to put all the necessities of a 4 year old and an *almost* one year old!

I have been thinking about this tote since I first saw the pattern....but thought "it's too hard. There is no way I can make it!."
But I needed a challenge.
Making dresses and basic bags has become too easy.
Probably because I've made a LOT of them.

I will admit I left off the piping (that you  make yourself).
I didn't have any in my sewing stash and when I went to get started on this I had just put Preston down for a nap.
I just couldn't wait 2 hours for him to get up and then drive to the store to get some!!!!!
So, it would like a bit more "polished" maybe with the piping but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

I did go and buy piping after I was done....for the next Weekender Tote I will need!

I am absolutely in love with how it turned out!
It's bright and fun and full of room to stash everything.
I did add pockets to the inside-in her pattern there are not any inside which disappointed me so I stuck a few in.

And I had just enough of the fabric leftover to make this matching little cutie:

It's the Madison bag also from Amy Butler.
It's pretty cute too.
We will be traveling in style for sure!

Sew Liberated

Got a new sewing book in the mail a few weeks ago.
Big surprise, right!

So many great projects in there for kids!
Some are clothing and others are toys or activites.
A lot of the projects encourage creativity for your child.
Some are designed to get them to help with household tasks.
And just lots of open-ended play opportunites like a teepee, a homemade doll, a cape that reminds me of Little Red Riding hood....the list goes on of the things I can't wait to make!

I have been trying to use up some of my massive knit stash....it's out of control.
But cute.

I knew this first project would be quick and easy and who doesn't need another bib?
It's called "The All By Myself Bib" because it has no fasteners/velcro/snaps of any kind.
So once Preston is a bit bigger he can put it on by himself.
Right now he is in the "rip-off-my-bib-as-soon-as-mommy-puts-it-on" stage.
But this one DOESN'T COME OFF!!!!!!!
It's a pretty great bib and covers most of his front.
I did make a note to add a pocket next time which is the only way I think it can be improved!

And for my next choice I was needing to use up this RANDOM purple camo knit.
Whose idea was it to buy this?!?!?!
Her daddy will like it though.

This is the "Crossover Tee" and the "Pants-I-can't-remember-the-name-of."
Both super cute.
I did shorts instead of pants so she can wear them right now.

I should have put the pink trim on the bottom of the shirt and the bottom of the shorts though.
Oh well-next time!

I like the clothing patterns in this book because most of them are pretty unisex!

Can't wait to try some more out of this book...or maybe the 3 others I bought with it....

Summer fun!

Now that summer is officially here we are enjoying every minute of it!

And even though I have a list a mile long of crafty things to do there is just no way we can spend time inside!

Here's just a few of the things we've been up to:

Dustin's uncle got married outside and I think we had the best seats in the house.
And if you look closely....Carson seems to have become a Cyclone fan...

The boys have started fighting over toys.

We went to a cabin on Lake Rathbun and visited the waterpark too!

Preston and Carson liked riding the giant turtle.

There was no bathtub at the cabin (we were roughin' it) so these two monkeys had to bathe in the sink!
They loved it.

They like to eat lunch together too.

We stopped by the local Fun Days celebration and hit the tractor pull.
Neither one of us thought Peighton would even be able to move it...but she ended up in second place!

And she earned heself s giant bag of cotton candy!

We can't wait to see what the rest of the summer holds!
We've got some fun things lined up for July!
